Dianne Babski Appointed Associate Director for Library Operations, National Library of Medicine

Countrywide Library of Medication Director, Patricia Flatley Brennan, RN, PhD, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dianne Babski as Associate Director for Library Operations at the Countrywide Library of Medication (NLM), a position in the Senior Government Support.  This appointment grew to become efficient November 22, 2020. Ms. Babski has served as Performing Associate Director for Library Operations since March 1, 2020.

In her new role, Ms. Babski is liable for total administration of 1 of NLM’s biggest divisions with a lot more than 450 staff who offer wellness facts products and services to a world audience of wellness treatment gurus, scientists, administrators, pupils, historians, clients, and the general public.  She will oversee price range, services, administration, and functions, like of a countrywide network of a lot more than 8,000 tutorial wellness science libraries, medical center and general public libraries, and neighborhood organizations to strengthen entry to wellness facts. Ms. Babski will also provide as the Scientific Evaluation Administrator to the federal advisory committee recommending journals for MEDLINE (Literature Range Technological Evaluation Committee) and will represent NLM to the International Committee of Health care Journal Editors and the Affiliation of Study Libraries. 

Ms. Babski started her NLM company in 2005 as a Technological Information Professional. Three several years later on, she grew to become Head of the MEDLARS Administration Section, and she advanced to the position of Deputy Associate Director for Library Operations in 2013. As Deputy Associate Director for Library Operations, she led the inaugural yr for the Data Science @NLM Coaching Program for NLM staff, served as Performing Head of the Coordinating Place of work of the Countrywide Community of Libraries of Medication, and Performing Head of the Countrywide Information Middle on Health Providers Study & Health Care Technology, headed setting up initiatives for the Building 38 renovations, and played a critical role in applying the first section of NLM’s reorganization. In these roles, Ms. Babski has created numerous vital contributions to NLM and its Strategic Plan.

Prior to joining NLM, Ms. Babski worked in the Scientific Evaluation Program of the Countrywide Institute of Allergy and Infectious Illnesses, acquiring peer overview equipment and database resources. She also worked on NASA’s SPACELINE info project that equipped room life sciences citations and indexing to MEDLINE.  She has a BS in Biology and Biochemistry and Learn of Information Administration degree from the College of Maryland, Faculty Park.
